Introduction to rowing at the rowing tank of Parc Jean-Drapeau

 

The Lachine Rowing Club received a grant from Sport et loisirs de l’île de Montréal to introduce high school students and citizens to rowing. No rowing experience is required.

For $35, students aged 13 to 19 are invited to participate in five two-hour sessions at Parc Jean Drapeau. The price is $55 for adults.

Each session includes one hour in the rowing tub and one hour on ergometers (rowing machine).

In June (date to be determined), participants will be invited to try rowing on Lake Saint-Louis at the Aviron Lachine club!

Indoor Rowing Championship

Aviron Rowing Lachine is proud to virtually host this year’s Québec Indoor Rowing Championships on January 23rd 2022.

This event is aimed at the Québec Rowing community at large and the general public that are interested in a mid-winter indoor rowing challenge.

Due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, this race will be virtual. Please consult the instructions for connecting virtually to the race. Official Invitation.

The U13, U15 and masters (mens and women’s events) will be 1000m and the U17, U23 and Senior events will be 2000m. There will also be a team relay event with four rowers rowing a total of 2000m.

Mid-Season Rates

As of August 1, mid-season rates are available for Recreation Program and Development Team memberships.

Recreational adult: 210$

Recreational student (21 years and under): 185$

Development team: 185$

Progressive Opening – June 6th

Hello,

We will gradually open the club Saturday morning at 8:30 am.

There will be some rules to follow. The first is to be an official member of the Club. Fill out the form http://avironlachine.ca/en/index.php/programs/recreational/, send it to us online and make a bank transfer (recreational, 375$ sent to [email protected], answer “aviron”). It is important not to have a paper/cheque or money exchange.

Eventually, we will operate by reservation. For the opening, it will be first come first served while respecting the protocol.

Protocol:
No member will have access to the building, must wear a mask when arriving at the Club and not be more than 2 members in the Club compound. All exits will be solo or more if leaving at the same adress.

1) Wash hands on arrival;
2) Verification of registration;
3) Adjustment of the boat without tools;
4) Transport of the boat to the dock in a single group;
5) Departure at 15 minutes, exit of 90 minutes, including obligatory cleaning of the boat, including exterior, interior, shoes, swimmers and oars.

If you have symptoms of Covod-19, don’t come! An employee will ask you about it.

Each member must have his whistle, his bottle filled and a rag (towel).

You must keep all your belongings with you. There will be no room for deposits.

Cancelation of the 2020 Lachine Canal Regatta

The Lachine Rowing Club regrets to confirm the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Défi du Canal. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic and to respect social distancing measures, it is impossible to hold the event.

The club would like to thank all past volunteers, event partners, referees and athletes for their participation and support. Rest assured that we will be ready for the 2021 edition.

As for the other club activities, we will inform you as soon as we have instructions from the borough and public health authorities. Our goal remains to offer young people and members as many activities as possible while respecting the required hygiene measures.

COVID-19 and the 2020 Season

The Lachine Rowing club is ready for the 2020 season, but the sanitary context does not allow the club to open on the usual date (early May). Our organization will respect the directives of the City of Montreal for the resumption of sports activities in a safe context for the health of the members. Our goal is always to provide stimulating day camps and a calendar of inspiring activities for our members. In the meantime, Lachine Rowing recommends that everyone follow the social distancing guidelines.

Since December 2018, Lachine Rowing receives a share of Bingo Lachine profits. To support the bingo is to support our club.

On Wednesday, Januaru 29, let’s get together to meet again at the beginning of this new year.

  • Cost: $ 16 / adult.
  • From 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
  • 12 sets of 9 cards, plus a bonanza and a double-action, a bottle of ink.
  • Spaghetti supper included!

The bingo staff will be there to explain everything to those who have never played.

Québec’s Indoor Rowing Championship 2020

The Quebec Indoor Rowing Championship will be held in Quebec City on February 2, 2020.
A great challenge. Put it on your agenda, register, form a team for the relay!

It is possible to buy Concept2 model D PM5 indoor rowers during the Championship.
If you are interested, send a check for $ 1230 to Lachine Rowing Club or an Interac transfer
(at [email protected]) by December 14, 2019. The ergometer will be used once
for the day of the Championship. For more information, write to [email protected]

Pastaviron Fundraising Dinner – August 17 2019

Tickets are now on sale ($25/adult, $15/children 12 years and under or  
member of day/teen camp). You may purchase your tickets directly at  
the club or reserve them by sending us an email at  
[email protected], now we are offering the possibility to pay by  
bank transfer.  Family and friends are welcome.  For those who are  
unable to attend, we accept donations at the amount of your choice.  
All proceeds will be put towards our competitive team and new  
equipment for the club.  We are looking forward to seeing you!

Open House – ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge – June 15, 2019

The Lachine Rowing Club participates in ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge ! The Challenge takes place from May 31 to June 16 and our activity will take place on June 15. The Community Better Challenge is open to all communities and individuals, ultimately awarding the community with the highest number of active minutes (based on population size) the title of Canada’s Most Active Community! receiving $ 150,000 to fund local physical activity initiatives. The time you spend at the club to try rowing can be recorded with the ParticipACTION App – the app that moves the world.

Masters training: Monday/Wednesday starting at 6pm
Regular rowing: Tuesday/Thursday/Friday starting at 6pm
Saturday/Sunday from 8am to 1 pm

For the two following long weekends, the schedule will me modified to:

Friday June 23th: from 8:00 am till 1:00 pm, closed for the rest of the day
Saturday and Sunday: from 8:00 am till 1:00 pm
Monday June 26th: from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm (day camps), closed from 4:00 pm till 6:00 pm, masters training at 6:00 pm
Friday June 30th: from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm (day camps), closed for the rest of the day

We will be waiting for you at 5 pm for cocktails, followed by a great italian dinner, fantastic desserts and a bar service that caters to everyone’s tastes. Defi du Canal de Lachine – Results are in

canal2016 canal20162The 8th edition of the Defi du Canal de Lachine regatta took place on Sunday, May 29th. Rowers and clubs from Quebec and Ontario gathered for a fantastic day and very exciting race. We would like to thank all the rowers, teams, clubs, coaches, referees, volonteers, fans ans sponsors for this amazing day. We invite you to join us next year at the end of May for the 9th edition which will take place during the 350th anniversary of Montreal and Lachine as well as the 150th anniversary of Rowing Canada. This should be a race to remember.

First ever “Défi des rapides de Lachine” indoor race to be held on April 23rd.

defirapidecarreWe are happy to announce that the first “Défi des rapides de Lachine” will be held in collaboration with the Bruny Surin Foundation at Ste-Anne college, located at 50, 12th avenue in Lachine. On the program: 500m, 1000m and 2000m individual or team races. Registration fees are 20$.

Just like our club, the Bruny Surin Foundation helps kids and youth achieve academic perseverence and excellence throught sports and healthy habits. This is a natural collaboration between our organizations. The Foundation distributes over $20 000 a year in sports grants to student-athletes. Your participation to the “Défi des Rapides” will not only help our club but will benefit young Quebec athletes.

As a sprinter, Bruny Surin’s achievements are impressive. Between 1993 and 1997, he was two times indoor world champion on 60m, gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games in the 4 x 100m relay, world champion in 1995 and 1997 on the 4 x 100m relay and gold medallist at the Atlanta Olympic Games in the 4 x 100m relay. 2016 season and day camp information and registration evening on Monday March 21st

InfoEveningThe Lachine Rowing Club invites you to a special information and registration evening on Monday, March 21st at 7pm. The event will take place at La Vieille Brasserie, 2801 St-Jospeh Blvd in Lachine. You will be able to meet members of the club as well as employees and be able to register for the upcoming 2016 summer season. It will also be the ideal moment to register your teenagers to one of our amazing summer rowing day camp. All the information regarding our camps and rates will be available on site, the 21st of March. We hope to see you!

We will keep you informed shortly with our winter training schedule as well as our future projects for the 2016 summer season. We thank you for your loyalty and your continuous support. We hope to see you at the closing chore this coming Saturday, October 31st, at 9 am.

The first Lachine coastal rowing regatta took place Saturday, September 13th and was a great succes, thanks to the participation and support from rowers of the Alma, Boucherville, Montreal, Terrebonne, Waterloo and, of course, Lachine clubs. All the results are now available under the Regattas/Results tab or by clicking the link below. Thanks to all the participants, volonteers, organizers, officials and supporters. We will see you in September 2016 for the 2nd edition of the regatta.

Lachine Coastal Rowing Event – Saturday September 12

Coastal rowing is a rapidly growing aspect of our sport that combines the excitement and endurance of rowing with the challenge of heavy open water waves. This 4km and 8km race will gather clubs from Quebec and Ontario and will take place on Saturday, September 12th at the Lachine Rowing Club, on magnificent Lake St-Louis.

Annual Fundraising Dinner – Tickets now on sale!

All the profits will go towards our Youth Competitive Development Team.

All proceeds will go to the competitive team which will send an athlete to the National Rowing Championships from November 10 to 13 in North Cowichan, BC.
